Roger Saillant, Ph.D., joined Plug Power Inc. as President and Chief Executive Officer in December 2000. Today, as the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Saillant plans and directs all aspects of the organization's policies, objectives, and initiatives and is engaged in building a company which is dedicated to the development of fuel cells and the creation of a hydrogen economy.

Previously, Dr. Saillant served for more than 30 years with Ford Motor Company and Visteon Corporation, a spin-off of Ford. While at Ford Motor Company, he worked on many aspects of pollution controls for automobiles, including catalysts, electronic engine controls and alternative manufacturing methods. He was also in charge of worldwide operations in component areas and had the opportunity to interact with workers in India, China, Mexico, Thailand, Brazil, Hungary, Czech Republic and other European countries. In this capacity, he influenced the creation of plant social structures based on Learning Organization principles. At Plug Power, he is continuing this work, with added emphasis on sustainability practices.

Dr. Saillant is a member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education. He also serves as Chair of the Implementation and Integration Team of Tech Valley High School and is a member of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee (HTAC), a group created by the U.S. Congress to advise the Department of Energy. Dr. Saillant holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Bowdoin College, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Indiana University and a post-doctorate degree in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles.
