Overview New Energy New York and the Energy & Environmental Technology Applications Center (E2TAC) at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), in partnership with the New York Academy of Sciences held the Fifth Annual New Energy Symposium August 9-10, 2010. The event was held at the New York Academy of Science's premier office space at the World Trade Center in New York City, NY. To view photos from the 2010 New Energy Symposium, please click here. Program Topics The chair of the Symposium was Congressman Steve Israel, 2nd District of NY. The first day included keynote speakers from both government and industry. Keynote speakers included Congressman Israel and India's Former Federal Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament for Industry, Energy and Environment, Suresh Prabhu. The panel discussions focused on the technological advances in the following areas:
Clean Energy Investment Presentations The 2010 NES again featured the Clean Energy Investment Presentations, where the hottest emerging cleantech start-ups competed for an opportunity to showcase their revolutionary technology to an audience of regional and national venture capitalists (VCs), private investors, corporate VCs, investment bankers & federal executives. The top three presentations, selected by the VC panelists, received awards and $1,500 cash. The Clean Energy Investment Presentations are modeled after the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's Industry Growth Forum, a successful model at the national level.

CleanTech Entrepreneur of the Year Award The 2010 CleanTech Entrepreneur of the Year was awarded to Michael Gordon, Founder and Chief Strategic Officer of CPower. The award honors an entrepreneur who has made outstanding strides and technology advancements in the field of renewable energy. Over 20 nominations were received, highlighting successful entrepreneurs across the globe. Mr. Gordon was selected based on his impressive success at CPower and his long and prestigious career within the cleantech industry.
