Experience Mr. Tidgewell is a member of the firm's Business group and focuses his practice on emerging businesses and venture capital as well as private equity fund formation. He has advised both investment funds and venture-backed companies in private financings and assists a variety of clients in all aspects of capital fundraising, deal negotiation, M&A and ongoing corporate matters.
Prior to joining Nixon Peabody, Mr. Tidgewell was Assistant General Counsel and Vice President of Fund Development at Village Ventures, Inc., the nation's largest network of early-stage venture capital funds. While with Village Ventures, Inc., Mr. Tidgewell led fund development efforts for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, and was responsible for the formation of several technology-focused venture capital funds; he helped to raise over $160 million in limited partner capital from public and private investors.
Mr. Tidgewell is a regular panelist and frequent speaker at events focused on venture capital and emerging technology, and has written on the subject of venture finance for several publications. He serves as member of the drafting committee of the National Venture Capital Association's Standard Forms Project, which released its first set of industry-standard venture capital deal documents in 2004, and he remains actively involved in that project. Mr. Tidgewell is founder of Nixon Peabody's Help Desk at the RPI Incubator and at Union College's U-Start Incubator facility, and a member of the Upstate Venture Association of New York.
