Ray Melleady Executive Director CDTA
Ray Melleady joined CDTA as Deputy Executive Director of Operations in March 2004, was promoted to Acting Director in June 2005 and appointed to CDTA Executive Director in June 2006. As Executive Director, Mr. Melleady has begun implementation of a new "strategic business plan" to direct CDTA's short and long term efforts in the development of transit service in the Capital Region. Plans include to continually work with the community to improve service and fleet operation performance.
Prior to coming to CDTA, Mr. Melleady was employed at SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) from 1989 to 1994, where he was rapidly promoted from general helper/fueler to 1st class technician to technical trainer. He worked at New Jersey Transit from 1995 to 1997 as an Assistant to the Director of Maintenance and returned to SEPTA in 1998 as Director of Maintenance.
He has a B.S. in Business Management from Rosemont College and is an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Certified Technician. Mr. Melleady is a member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Bus Maintenance Committee and works on the Transit Research Board Project on Transit Technician Certification. He resides in Clifton Park with his wife Shannon and their five children.
