NYSERDA’s Biomimicry Technical Assistance Team, in
collaboration with The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering
(CNSE), invites you to a webinar focused on biomimicry, a design process
that imitates or takes inspiration from natural forms and processes to
solve human problems. This webinar will focus on industry applications
of naturally-inspired solar and energy storage research.
Recent
biomimetic advancements in solar and energy storage technologies
include self- assembling and self-healing nanomaterials inspired by
the living materials found throughout nature, as well as methods to
improve light energy harvesting inspired by the functions of chlorophyll.
Webinar agenda:
- Introduction to biomimicry and its applications
- Explanation of our NYSERDA-funded Biomimicry Technical Assistance contract
- Presentation
from the CNSE’s Dr. Nathan Cady. Along with an industry partner, Dr.
Cady has successfully obtained NYSERDA funding for a biomimicry
proof-of-concept study
- Explanation of forthcoming biomimicry workshop, specifically focused on company challenges. This workshop aims to identify fundable project ideas and R&D teams
