2012 Highlights
Nano Job Fair
Supporting Governor Andrew Cuomo’s leadership in building a world-class nanotechnology industry in New York, more than 750 people participated in CNSE’s Nano Job Fair, designed to recruit candidates for more than 300 current and future openings, with a strong outreach to encourage women, minorities and veterans to participate.
CNSE Hosts High-Tech Job Fair for M+W Group
More than 300 candidates participated as CNSE hosted a high-tech job fair to assist M+W Group in filling over 50 positions, with a joint community outreach to strongly encourage participation from women and underrepresented social groups in engineering and technical fields.
New York State MWBE Forum
CNSE had a strong presence at the first-ever Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) Forum, which was attended by more than 2,000 professional and government representatives and designed to examine new business opportunities in New York State.
NANOvember
Thousands of people attended CNSE’s fifth annual “NANOvember” celebration, with events such as the Nano Job Fair, “Nano Discovery Program” with Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region, the “Smartphone Revolution and 2012 NanoText Competition,” and the popular CNSE Community Day and Community Lecture Series.
CNSE Community Day
A chance for people of all ages from the Capital Region and beyond to receive an up-close look at the exciting world of nanotechnology, attendees at CNSE Community Day experienced hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations, timely presentations, and guided tours of CNSE’s unrivaled Albany NanoTech Complex. Participants also saw firsthand how CNSE and New York State have emerged as the epicenter for the nanotechnology-driven society of the 21st century.
New York State Business Plan Competition
CNSE partnered with UAlbany’s School of Business, the Lally School of Management and Technology at Rensselaer, and Syracuse University to present the third annual New York State Business Plan Competition, which was held at CNSE and drew a record turnout of more than 120 student-run teams from 25 colleges and universities across the state.
CNSE Partners with CHA and Trinity Alliance
CNSE announced partnerships with CHA, formerly Clough Harbour & Associates, and Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region to support joint nanotechnology education and workforce training programs to create opportunities for underrepresented communities in New York’s emerging nanotechnology-driven smart system industry.
CNSE Hosts SmAlbany 2012
More than 1,000 local businesspeople attended the 6th Annual Small Business Expo held at CNSE’s Albany NanoTech Complex, which featured tours, seminars by Google and others, a trade show showcasing area small business products and services, and a career fair for businesses seeking to hire.
CNSE Hosts Extraordinary Friends and Heroes Event
The Friendship Circle's Extraordinary Friends & Heroes Event was held at CNSE, with more than 300 people gathering to honor three outstanding individuals in the community who have shown tremendous support for their causes: Robert Clore, Vice President of Merrill Lynch; Lydia Kulbida, News Anchor at News 10 ABC; and Mark Levine, Funeral Director and President of Levine Memorial Chapel.
CNSE Hosts Capitalize Albany Presentation and Reception
The boards of directors of the Capitalize Albany Corporation, Albany Community Development Agency, City of Albany Industrial Development Agency, and Community Resource Corporation, along with the City’s Division of Planning, gathered at CNSE for an event highlighting Albany’s transformational programs, projects and partnerships.
