New York Business Plan Competition 2012

More than 120 student teams from 25 colleges and universities across New York traveled to the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) Thursday, April 26 for a chance to win more than $150,000 in prizes at the New York State Business Plan Competition.

In the end, Strong Arm Technologies Inc., made up of students from the Rochester Institute of Technology took home the $50,000 grand prize and more than $20,000 in in-kind services to support their development of the Strong Arm Vest, a form-fitting garment that incorporates a unique system of load-bearing straps to reduce both fatigue and risk potential for employees lifting boxes and other heavy objects in a materials-handling environment.

In addition, three teams each took home $10,000 in cash and over $2,000 in in-kind services as part of their first-place finishes within their respective categories.
