NanoHigh 2012 Visit II
Students from Albany High School got another chance to slip on gloves and goggles at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering on Wednesday, February 29 as part of the unique "NanoHigh" Program.

Students began their day at CNSE with Dr. Sara Brenner, who introduced them to nanomedicine. Using a life-sized model of a human torso, students were asked to identify organs based on their appearance. Dr. Brenner then discussed how nanomedicine is allowing doctors to target treatment to specific organs, and described new tools and procedures that could soon become commonplace in the medical field.

Students also participated in a forensic DNA fingerprinting and extraction lab with Dr. Scott Tenenbaum and his team. The students were tasked with solving a crime scene. They had to identify a single “suspect” by comparing the DNA obtained from the crime scene with the DNA of the five “suspects.”
