WRGB: Local schools receive grant to cure 'dry mouth'

Two local schools have received a grant to work toward curing "dry mouth" in the next five years. UAlbany and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering received a $2.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to support joint research by faculty at the two schools.
The research targets improved treatment of xerostomia, also known as "dry mouth," which results from a lack of saliva. Those who suffer from the disorder often suffer from a number of conditions including oral and dental infections, loss of taste, and difficulties with swallowing, digesting, and speaking.
