Times Union Buzz Blog: Big-time names to lead solar roadmap development in Albany

Three well-known figures in the solar power industry are going to lead efforts by the U.S. Photolvoltaic Manufacturing Consortium in Albany to develop a national road map for using so-called CIGS solar cells.

The PVMC is based at the University at Albany College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.

Here is an excerpt from a release sent out this morning about the three-person panel that will lead the creation of the road map. CIGS are based on using certain materials in the solar cells.

“Dr. Larry Kazmerski, Dr. Joseph Laia, and Dr. Richard Swanson will serve as co-chairs for the groundbreaking effort, which will include participation from all sectors of the photovoltaic industry and support the development and growth of advanced solar PV-related manufacturing processes throughout the United States.
